The trip started off by attending the graduation of our grade 6s, our grade 3s and our pre grade 1s. The day was filled with happiness, performances, song and dance and many pictures. During this trip I was informed by the Dominican government that we are no longer allowed to offer grade 6 classes. We will continue to be responsible for the education of our older students and will have to work with them directly on a one by one case to manage their education.
I was excited to welcome our Ruben's Shoes Germany partners to our school so they could see first hand all that we are doing and the positive impact our education program is having on our students. They have many goals to help us with the sponsorship program and work on a few projects within the elementary school. If you would like to learn more about them please check out their website: www.rubensshoes.de
We have introduced an ESL program in the school and have partnered with an organization named International Learning Program. They have a unique style of teaching that is very effective. The students they work with are from Grade 3 and under and they are catching on very quickly!
Our school continues to thrive and the children are excelling, each trip is faced with new challenges but is outweighed by all of the good that is being done.
Lastly I made the long drive out to see Ruben and his family, I hadn't been there for 3 years, the visit was short but filled with nothing but LOVE. To see all of the pictures from this trip you can head over to our Facebook page.
Stay tuned for my next Trip Update and as always, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our school and our educational sponsorship programs.
